After multiple hazardous material containment failures on the part of Georgia Pacific that endangered the residents of on the south side between 1970 and 1980, they decided to create the South Side Community Action Association to stand up against Georgia Pacific and try to fight for the rights of these residents.
On September 10th, 1997, there was a fatal Georgia Pacific explosion that spread even more toxins throughout the neighborhood.
Roberta Jones Booth led the efforts that ultimately, after a long legal battle, resulted in a $22 million settlement for the residents who were affected by these explosions and leaks.
You can see that Roberta is a very fashionable woman.
She created and designed her own photos and participated in a local chapter of the National Association of Fashion and Accessory Designers and multiple fashion shows throughout Columbus.
So she can be remembered for many things, but in particular, she brought the community together in a very difficult time to fight for justice.
