Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship>>> So this is a collection from the Department of Development of the City of Columbus, and this is actually a set of five by seven slides that the city used to try to pass a bond issue in 1956.
This is the Spruce Street section and the Goodale Avenue section of Flytown in approximately 1955 -1956.
What I just love about this picture is this neighborhood is no longer here because this was wiped out right after we got the funding for the federal highway system.
So that passed in 54 and then the City of Columbus started gaining money a little bit later and they put what became the Goodale Expressway through here, which later became 670.
