BUT WHAT AMAZES ME HERE IS JUST THE MEDICAL CAMPUS.
AND NEW BUILDINGS GOING UP ALL THE TIME.
AND THE OVAL?
AND THE BEAUTIFUL THING ABOUT THE OVAL IS THE LIBRARY AT ONE END OF IT.
AND THE CENTER AT THE OTHER.
AND THOSE HISTORIC BUILDINGS.
THAT'S THE ICONIC IMAGE, WHENEVER THEY SHOW OSU DURING A GAME AND THEY PROFILE IT, THAT'S PART OF WHAT THEY SHOW.

A SPACE THAT IS JUST FROM THIS SIDE OF IT, A MEMORIAL GARDEN, WHICH IS QUITE BEAUTIFUL.
THE TOWER, WHICH WAS OUR SKYLINE FOR EVER, STILL STANDS OUT.
>> YOU SEE A PHOTO OF COLUMBUS ON THE NEWS, THEY ALWAYS SHOW THE TOWER AND THE RIVER FRONT.
THAT WAS ACTUALLY USED AS A BEACON FOR THE FIRST FLIGHT OUT OF WHAT BECAME FORT COLUMBUS.
THE BROAD STREET BRIDGE, THAT HAS BEEN REPLACED, BUT IT USED TO HAVE A SIGN PAINTED ON IT, AIRPORT, WITH AN ARROW.
AND THAT WAS THE ONLY TALL BUILDING.
AND IF YOU FOLLOWED IT, YOU WOULD GET TO THE AIRPORT EVENTUALLY.
THAT'S A BEAUTIFUL DOWNTOWN VIEW.
YOU KNOW, THAT PARK, THEY TOOK THE DAMS OUT OF THE RIVER.
THE RIVER WAS MUCH WIDER BEFORE.
AND IT NARROWED THE RIVER AND FREED UP ALL THAT LAND FOR PARKS.
NORTH BANK PARK HERE, AND BICENTENNIAL PARK AT THE OTHER END WITH CITY HALL AND THE SUPREME COURT BUILDING.
>> AND WE'RE RIGHT OVER WHERE THE PEN USED TO BE.
>> THE OHIO PEN IS LITERALLY WHERE THE PARK IS, THOSE NEW RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS ALL THE WAY OVER TO THE BASEBALL STADIUM.

JUST THOSE LITTLE SMALL BRICK HOUSES ON LITTLE CITY LOTS.
A LOT WAS LOST.
IN FACT, AS WE FLY OVER AND WE LOOK AT ALL THESE FREEWAYS, MOST OF THE NEIGHBORHOODS WERE TAKEN OUT, ESPECIALLY OVER ON THE EAST SIDE.
SEPARATED DOWNTOWN FROM NEIGHBORHOODS ON THE NEAR EAST SIDE.
OVER IN FRANKLINTON, THE FREEWAY WE SEE OVER THERE, THAT WAS THE NEIGHBORHOOD THAT WAS CUT THROUGH.
