Mandala Sand Painting
Clip: Season 6 Episode 8 | 3m 46s
A group of Tibetan monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery visited Dublin, Ohio, earlier this autumn to create a mandala sand painting. They spent five days and millions of grains of colored sand to create an image of Avalokiteshvara (“The Buddha of Compassion”). The mandala is a historic type of architectural diagram, representing the palace or celestial residence of the deity.
